Why can't I change record names, DOB, or enrollment info?

With the release of ProgenyES v9.0, several new security permissions were added to provide the option of restricting access to key identifying and membership fields. Adhering to the concept of "Secure by Default", new permissions are not granted by default. Consequently, it is necessary for a Progeny administrator to explicitly grant these new permissions when upgrading from an older version.

If you are not an administrator, contact your Progeny administrator and direct them to this FAQ page.

If you are an administrator and your users cannot access the name, enrollment status, or enrollment number fields, you may follow the steps below to assign the access rights.

Assigning Access Rights to Change Names, Enrollment Status, and Enrollment Numbers:
  • Start and login to Progeny
  • Exit the Database Register (if it opens automatically)
  • Open the Security Management window (padlock icon on left, or the "Security - Manage Users and Groups" top menu)
  • Select the User Groups tab
  • Select your group
  • Ensure that the right for "Records - Change - Name" is check marked
  • Ensure that the right for "Records - Change - Enrollment Status" is check marked
  • Ensure that the right for "Records - Change - Enrollment Number" is check marked
  • Ensure that the right for "Records - Change - Date of Birth" is check marked
  • Select the Users tab
  • Select your login account
  • Ensure that the same rights listed above are check marked for you
  • Repeat for any other groups and users as needed
  • Click the Save and Exit button
  • Exit Progeny
  • Start and log back in to Progeny
In a multi-user/client-server situation, the users will need to logout and back into Progeny in order to refresh their access rights.
